NEW PLAYER GUIDE

Please be sure to first check out the Codex for rules for our shard before getting started. Check out our useful information post as well for various tips and tricks.
Use [mycommands to view your list of commands in game.
When joining Methgair you receive a 50k bank check in your bankbox to go toward setting yourself up with skills, gear, or whatever else you will need starting out.

World Teleporter: You can find these in towns and dungeons in Trammel, Ilshenar, Tokuno, Termur, and Malas (Looks like a small red shield on the ground, step onto it to travel). Felucca only has ONE entrance. You must travel on foot in Felucca to get to where you need to go. You cannot mark runes in Felucca. You can recall out to exit Felucca. Shadowguard entrance to TerMur is the only way to get to the Valley of Eodon. Run down the stairs to access this facet.
Be sure to check out the Custom section under the World Teleporter. Here you will find the player run Vendor Malls, the Training Room, and New Player Room. New Player Room has some free gear available and empty spellbooks. You can also find access to the Young Player Dungeon in the New Player Room. You must still have Young status to be able to enter the Young Player Dungeon. Once your status is revoked, you will lose access to this dungeon.

The Methgair Store: (listed under Custom on World Teleporter) sells all upgrade items available for purchase. All items in the store are purchasable with Methgair Bars, our custom server currency. You can either donate to the server using [donate command to receive Methgair bars and the current monthly bonus item, or you can purchase them from the trader in the center of the room with gold. It is 150k gold for EACH Methgair Bar. While this may seem like a lot now as a new player, earning this kind of gold becomes very easy once you put some time into training your character.

Methgair Zoo: Our display area for custom animations/mobs we have added in.

Hue Room: The Hue Room is where you can purchase universal dye tubs to dye items. These tubs will work on pretty much anything except Ethereal mounts. They cost 100k per tub, and you can choose which tub you want to purchase off of the stones on the far north side of the room. The vases in the room can be double clicked to preview a hue on an item. Double click the vase and target what item you want to preview the hue on.

Player Vendors: Check out the Makoto Zento vendor mall to find some staff placed vendor stones where you can also purchase items. Here you will find universal storage keys (see forum post for more info), travel maps, various weapon and gear deeds, and various dye tubs.

PVP: Methgair is a non-PVP server. You may only PVP in the PVP Arena, or if you are in the same guild. You can find the entrance to PVP arena through sparkles in small building Southwest of Britain Bank.

Housing: cannot be placed by players with young status. You can have 5 houses per account. Housing decay on Methgair is the dynamic decay system. It takes around 3 months for a house to decay, however actual drop time will vary as it can drop during a period of 14-16 days. **Very important: When dropping an item in your house, you MUST say I wish to secure this or I wish to lock this down and lock or secure the item down or it WILL decay!!**

Tokens: You can earn tokens by trashing items in your trash bag, crafting, harvesting, or killing. Tokens can be spent on the gear token stone in Makoto Zento. You can also sell them for gold to Lady Luck at Magincia Bank.

Stat Caps: Stat caps for every character is 300, and can be raised to 325 total with scrolls from the Harrower. The maximum you can have in a single stat is 125.
Skill caps: You begin with 100.0 cap on individual skills. You can raise this cap to 120 with powerscrolls (available through doing champion spawns in Felucca or purchase from players). You can also get crafting powerscrolls through filling Bulk Order Deeds. The total starting skill cap on Methgair is 1560. You can also increase this cap through purchase of deeds in the Methgair Store to 1800.

Skill Training: You may afk macro to train skills as long as they are not gaining you wealth or materials. Please choose an out of the way location to do so, such as the training room or your house. Please do not spam in front of the banks. You can also purchase starting skill amounts from NPCs.
When you first start playing, your character will have young player status. This means monsters in the game will not attack you unless you first attack them. Be careful: there are some dungeons and areas that are exception to this rule. We highly recommend you stick to the towns and areas setup for new players to train in while first starting out. You will automatically lose young player status if you hit 700 skill points or exceed 100 in any skill. You also will lose young status in 40 hours of playtime. You can manually renounce young status by saying: “I renounce my young player status”.
We highly recommend training skills in New Haven, as there is accelerated skill gain in this area. The quests in New Haven are all for new players as well. There is a necromancy quest for a full necromancy spellbook as well as a magery quest for a full spellbook.

Death: There are corpse stones, ankhs, and pet resurrection stones placed outside of dungeons and in dangerous areas throughout the game. These are free to use to players. Ankh is used to resurrect yourself and tithe gold for Chivalry spells. You can also lock/unlock your karma. When your karma is locked, you can no longer gain positive karma but can still lose karma. Corpse stones will gather your belongings off your last corpse. Pet resurrection stones will resurrect your pets.
AFK Checks: AFK checks are given automatically using a gump during crafting, harvesting, and filling bulk orders. If you fail, please note the staff can and will check to ensure you are there and if we deem you afk you will be jailed. Manual checks will be performed as staff sees fit. If you do not respond, staff will jail you.
Check out New Haven for an abundance of quests for training skills for New Players.

Training Room: The training room has trainers you can attack to train weapon skills. There are free weapons that spawn on a table available for use to train with. These weapons have self repair on them so they cannot be destroyed. They are also blessed so they cannot be trashed for tokens. You can trash them in the gold barrel in the training room when you are finished. There are also chests that you can train lockpicking on as well as free lockpicks spawning on the ground. You can use the pickpocket dips to train stealing. Bandages spawning in the chests can also be used to train stealing. The remove trap chests will train you up to 55 skill.

Insurance: Item insurance is very important. This will protect you from losing your items when you die. Please make sure you insure your items. If you die and lose your items, staff is not responsible for recovering them for you. Single click yourself and click open item insurance menu to insure your items. You will need to check “Auto Reinsure” at the top of the gump to automatically reinsure your items after you die. If you do not check this, after the first time you die your items will no longer be insured and can be lost the next time you die. This gump will tell you how much gold you have available in the bank at the bottom, as well as the total cost of your insurance. Select next to each item to insure it.

Blessed items: Blessed items automatically follow you on death without using insurance money.

Account/Player Bound Items: These are items that bind to your account or character. You cannot trade them with others. Please note, this does not mean they are blessed or insured. If you die, they can be lost on your corpse. Please make sure you bless/insure your items to keep them safe.
Pet bonding: Pet bonding deeds are a purchasable item that protects your pet from disappearing on death. If a pet is bonded, it is able to be resurrected. Please make sure you bond your pets! Otherwise they will not be able to be resurrected.

Young Player Dungeon: Upon entering , you will find a healer. Run up the stairs to enter the first area. Here you will find Leyla the Weaver.

Sheep Shearer Quest:  Speak to Leyla the Weaver to begin. Collect 40 spined leather and 40 wool. You can collect wool from shearing sheep (1 wool from shearing, 3 from killing sheep and looting). Spined leather can be collected from killing and skinning the dire wolves. Reward for this quest is gold and 1000 cloth.
Step into the moongate named Lower Safe Zone to continue onward.

Find Timmons Quest:  Speak to Timmon’s Mom to begin. She will ask you to find Timmons bedroll, shoes, shirt, and head. These can be found in the 4 adjacent hallways. Reward for this quest is gold.
